Microsoft announced that Visual Studio 2017 will reach the end of support in April 2027. Your systems will continue to run after that date, but unsupported Microsoft components will increase security, compliance, and support risk over time. Expert 8.2.2 and 8.2.3 rely on Visual Studio 2017. To maintain products actively supported by Microsoft, firms on those versions must upgrade to Expert 8.2.4.1 or later.

What this means for you

This is part of Microsoft’s defined lifecycle cadence, and it’s not an isolated event. Depending on how your Aderant environment is set up, your firm may be impacted through:

  • Exchange Web Services (EWS), or
  • Visual Studio dependencies within other Aderant products

If you are already working with Aderant on an EWS upgrade, stay focused on that effort. Those conversations are the most effective way to reduce long-term exposure. At the same time, it’s important to remain aware of other Microsoft updates that may affect your Aderant products.

If you are not currently discussing an upgrade, now is the right time to reach out. Early planning helps avoid last-minute pressure and supports continued system stability.

What to do next

  • Continue with your current EWS upgrade discussions, if already underway
  • Contact your Aderant Client Success Manager if you are not currently discussing your upgrade path
