As you may know, Microsoft will retire Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Exchange Online on October 1, 2026. To ensure uninterrupted service, Aderant is preparing all impacted products to transition to the Microsoft Graph API, which provides stronger security and long-term support.

Below is product-specific guidance on next steps. Please review the sections that apply to your firm.

 

Expert Sierra – No Action Required

No action is required. Aderant will manage all updates on your behalf.

Expert (On-Premise) – Action Could be Required

  1. Download and run a script from myAderant: Identifying EWS Usage in Aderant Expert Systems. Here you will find step-by-step instructions. The script will scan your Expert instance to determine if your firm is actively using EWS features that will require an upgrade.
  2. Email results to EWSupgrade@aderant.com.
  3. A member of the Aderant team will contact you with an assessment of the results and if an upgrade is required, will work with you on a schedule and next steps.

CompuLaw – Action Required

If your firm uses Vision Sync, a self-managed upgrade of your CompuLaw instance is required. This upgrade will be available in early 2026. Contact your Aderant Client Manager for additional information and support.

If your firm is on version 2022 Q1 B1 or later, no action is required. If on an earlier version, an upgrade is required. Please contact your Aderant Client Manager to plan and schedule the upgrade.

Aderant Total Office (ATO) – Action Required

An upgrade is required and will be available in early 2026. A member of the Aderant team will contact you in the fourth quarter of 2025 to plan and schedule your upgrade.

 

Additional Information

Please note, if you are currently using on-premise Microsoft Exchange Server there is no impact to your existing Aderant solution functionality. No upgrade is required. We kindly request that you inform your Aderant Client Manager that no additional assistance will be required.
